Calories in Black Tea

Black Tea is practically calorie free when you are only drinking the brewed tea that has been brewed with water. What this means is that the calories in black tea depends on the additives that you put with the tea.

The two most common additives for black tea are cream and sugar. For every teaspoon of sugar you add to your black tea you are adding about 15 calories and for every teaspoon of 2% milk you are adding about 5 calories. If you are going to use half and half, it will add a few more calories over 2% milk. It is about 7 calories per teaspoon for half and half.

Due to the fact that tea is practically calorie free, it is really beneficial to your health if you can drink it without any additives. However, it is still a very healthy drink as long as you don't go crazy on the cream and sugar. Even a few teaspoons of cream or sugar added to a cup of tea won't bring it anywhere close to the calories of a soda or juice.
